St. Paul’s Hospital Location

The St. Paul’s Hospital location opened in 1992 and was previously located at Knox United Church, opening in 1974. Spadina ELCC – St. Paul’s offers quality, licensed childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our preschool program includes a younger preschool program (Rainbows) and an older preschool program (Moonbeams).

Our Drop-In Program is funded through the Ministry of Child and Family Services. They have 6 flexible spaces that are used on a referral basis.

Spadina ELCC St. Paul’s location offers an Inclusion Program for children who have diverse needs to be enrolled in a regular childcare program. We work closely with community agencies such as the Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program; Speech & Language Pathology Department at Royal University Hospital; Child and Youth Mental Health; Community Living; Family Support Centre; Saskatchewan Child Care Association; and Saskatchewan Health Authority.

In addition to our Inclusion Program, we also have a Speech and Language Pathologist from the Saskatchewan Health Authority who visits on a regular basis. The Speech and Language Pathologist works closely with the staff to help encourage language learning among all ages of children. The Speech and Language Pathologist also provides direct and indirect therapy as well as programming ideas and in-services.

We also have access to Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Services for children 5 years old and under in Licensed Early Learning Centres (ELCs) in Saskatoon. This service is for children who are already showing signs, or may be at risk, for developing mental health concerns. These children often exhibit challenging behaviours and have difficulty meeting classroom expectations. Children may or may not also be exhibiting challenging behaviors at home. ECMHC supports Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and families by providing psychoeducation pertaining to developmentally appropriately expectations, resources, and recommendations for intervention. Interventions will aim to teach children, families, and ECEs skills they need for children to succeed in early learning environments. Families will also have the opportunity to be connected with additional supports and services through CMHS; this may include referrals to additional services within Saskatoon.
